Da Vince Code- Much Ado about something
I watched Da Vinci Code at Waltermart. It was banned in all Sm. It can only be seen at Gateway, Rob or here in Waltermart.
I thought it will be a jampacked venue but it was not. Maybe the deeply religious Bulakenos prefer MI III than this controversial movie. There were just a few of us in the cold yet comfy theatre. I wonder what they were thinking about DVC.
I've read the Dan Brown book, now I've seen the movie. I guess, despite everything, my Catholic faith remains. But one could not just dismiss this as one great fictional body of work. This movie really questions the divinity and exposes the "Sangreal couple" but nothing new I haven't heard prior to the book.
Anyways, after going out of the theatre, I realized that we all live now in the modern times. Who cares about the movie presents or represents. JC is still JC, and will still be JC to most Catholics. And the movie failed to explain Mama Mary's immaculate conception. Therefore, JC is not just a man. Is the book and movie blasphemous? Absolutely. Should it be banned? No. My mom thinks that this is an evil movie. Mary Magdalene is sacred to her. She was her miraculous town patron saint.
I guess one just has to be open-minded and treat this movie as just another controversial albeit fictional yet disturbing art film. It's just a coincidence, I have a white rose with shortened stem inside my bag. :)
